Nine Circles’ Annual General Meeting is coming up on June 19, 2017. If you’re interested in getting involved, submit an application and a membership declaration form (if you’re not already a member) by May 26, 2017 to be considered by the Nominating Committee. The Committee presents a slate of nominees to the membership at the AGM where elections are held by secret ballot.
Community members who support the mandate, goals, objectives and programs/services of Nine Circles are encouraged to apply. We’re especially looking for:
- Individuals who identify as women. This is a recruitment priority at this time to maintain gender equity within our board
- Individuals with experience in health equities, health and social service systems and/or community health
- Individuals with lived experience with HIV or Hepatitis C
- Individuals with experience/interest in fund development
- Individuals living in the Downtown-Point Douglas area
About the Board
The Nine Circles Board of Directors is a policy-based board that employs a consensus-based decision making model. Directors are not actively involved in day to day operations of the organization but play a key role in developing policies and procedures.
Role of Directors
Directors will be expected to ensure the organization’s missions, values and purpose are upheld, ensure that the organization is managing its resources effectively, protect and enhance the organization’s public image, and support and attend events such as the Scotiabank AIDS Walk and World AIDS Day. Directors also select the Executive Director and review their performance.
We are looking for people who can serve a two year term, attend and actively participate in 10 regularly scheduled meetings and participate on 1 of 5 committees.
