Health Promotion & Outreach

Everyone has a right to education and health. The Nine Circles Health Promotion team works to support those accessing services in a client centred-capacity towards a healthier lifestyle.

Primary tools include

  • Interactive workshops & Training
  • Education sessions
  • Resource handouts
  • Harm reduction tools
  • Sexual health promotion

Educational services are provided to groups, individuals, families and communities – examples include schools, community agencies, health care providers, correctional facilities, and other engagements upon request.

The Health Promotion and Outreach Team actively participates in the designing, coordinating, and marketing of Health Promotion educational tools and building awareness for special events, such as the AIDS Walk for Life, World AIDS Day, Sexual Health Awareness Week, Pride week, Spring for Life Awareness and Fundraising and many more.

Outreach:

When individuals face challenges in finding and keeping support, the Nine Circles Outreach team works to make services available in their homes, communities and other meeting places. Individuals receive necessary information for their personal health along with the opportunity to link with services. This team offers harm reduction tools, resources and referral information to help make the connections faster and stronger.

Health Promotion:

The Health Promotion program facilitates health and wellness workshops and pr ogramming for Nine Circles clients, as well as their friends, family, and community members.

By attending activities at Nine Circles, participants are able to link to new supports and resources, both at Nine Circles as well as in the community. Participants can also take advantage of educational opportunities in a fun and friendly environment.

The Gathering Place is located at the front of the Nine Circles building, it contains computers, tables and chairs, resource materials and information on upcoming Nine Circles and other Community events. In the Gathering Place individuals can gain knowledge and skills through attending health promotion and capacity building workshops, while connecting with and learning from others in the process.  Staff of different Nine Circles programs, including the Aboriginal Program and the Mental Health Therapy program, regularly participate in planning and implementing activities.

The Nine Circles Food Bank is also part of the Health Promotion Program. With the support of Winnipeg Harvest and dedicated volunteers, the Nine Circles food bank is able to provide food bank members with a weekly supplement of food.
