You will be safe from HIV and STIs if you are the only one using the sex toy. If you share sex toys with other people it is possible that HIV and STIs can be transmitted, unless they are properly cleaned. If you want to share your sex toy without taking the time to clean it, you could use a condom over it and then just throw the condom away and put on a new one when someone else is going to use your toy.

Jellies: This material is made from a non-porous form of rubber that can be cleaned with mild soap and water.

Rubber: Rubber dildos should always be used with condoms, but can be cleaned with mild soap and water.

Cyberskin: Rinse with hot water, or disinfect by putting alcohol onto a cloth and lightly rubbing (avoid soap or harsh detergents).

Latex: Latex is non-porous and can be washed with mild soap and hot water.

Vinyl: Vinyl products are non-porous and can be washed with mild soap and hot water.
