World AIDS Day is internationally recognized on December 1 as a day when individuals and organizations around the world come together to raise awareness about HIV, celebrate successes in the fight against HIV and remember those who have passed on. In Canada, it's also the kick off to Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Week.
The international theme for World AIDS Day 2014 is "Getting to Zero: Zero new HIV Infections. Zero deaths from AIDS related illness. Zero discrimination."
Around December 1, Nine Circles and a variety of partner organizations will be doing special activities to mark the occasion and bring awareness to the ongoing fight against HIV.
